Tungsten Carbide Overlay Parts
Tungsten carbide overlay parts are composite wear components formed by depositing a tungsten-carbon alloy overlay layer onto the substrate surface via overlay welding techniques. Using special tungsten-carbon alloy rods or wires and processes like arc welding or plasma welding, the overlay metallurgically bonds to the substrate and creates a wear-resistant layer of controlled thickness.
Key Features
The overlay has high hardness, excellent resistance to abrasive wear and impact, while the substrate retains original toughness; the overlay-to-substrate bond strength prevents spalling.

Applications
These parts are widely applied to heavily worn areas on large equipment in mining, cement, and metallurgical machinery—such as bucket teeth, crusher hammers, chute liners, and fan blades—for surface reinforcement and repair.

Advantages
Compared with solid tungsten carbide parts, overlay parts have much lower cost and enable on-site repair of existing equipment, significantly extending service life while preserving substrate machinability and toughness.
