Helical Gear Powder Metallurgy Tool Design and Machining
The molds adopt a multi-punch combination structure to address complex tooth profiles and unequal height features. For stepped helical gears, “one upper and two lower” or “three upper and three lower” punch configurations are employed, combined with floating die technology to achieve bidirectional pressing, ensuring uniform tooth density. Core components include helical female dies and spiral guide mechanisms. The female die cavity is processed using variable module design methods for high tooth profile accuracy; the spiral guide mechanism ensures the upper punch rotates into the female die along the helical angle during pressing, avoiding die collision issues. Helical Gear Powder Compaction Tooling Material Selection
Key mold components utilize WC-Co tungsten carbide and ASP-60 powder high-speed steel, strengthened through vacuum sintering and deep cryogenic treatment, achieving hardness above HV2800. Cavities are processed through five-axis linkage machining technology, with tooth direction tolerances controllable within 0.01 millimeters, and clearance gaps precise to 0.005 to 0.015 millimeters, effectively avoiding tooth surface scratching and misalignment issues during forming.
